The civic association Za Opavu received a total of 21 proposals for the award of the Opava Prize J. M. Olbrich for quality architectural reconstructions that were carried out in the Opava region in the years 2010 - 2011. Of these submitted proposals, a total of 17 realizations met the formal requirements and were nominated for the J. M. Olbrich Prize. The seven-member expert jury appreciated that during the past period, a number of reconstructions were successfully completed, which deserve special attention and publicity and can serve as examples of possible good solutions. The task of evaluating all seventeen nominations was not easy, given the diametrically different approaches and the scope of the individual reconstructions, where on one side were comprehensive reconstructions of entire complexes, such as the reconstruction of the multifunctional building on Popská Street, and on the other side were more modest realizations of the reconstruction of family homes or minor sacred buildings, such as the chapel in Radkov - Nová Zálužná. The jury focused its evaluation on only 16 of the 17 nominated buildings. The relatively successful reconstruction of the chapel in Nové Těchanovice, which was carried out by the association Za Opavu itself, was not assessed. The jury agreed that, with one exception, all reconstructions received more or less significant positive evaluations, and the reconstructions can be regarded as successful. In one case (House of Art), the jury noted that the completed reconstruction represents a missed opportunity, where the funds spent do not correspond to expectations and the result is full of operational and architectural deficiencies.
