Prague - A creator for the concept of the Czech participation and pavilion at the world exhibition Expo 2015 in Milan is being sought. The Ministry for Regional Development stated on its public procurement website that a competition worth 60 million crowns was announced by the office of the General Commissioner of the Czech participation at the exhibition in Italy. The Czech Republic plans to lease the pavilion from the contractor and co-investor of the Czech participation for ten months. The winner should propose a comprehensive solution for the Czech participation. This includes the creation of the pavilion and the solution of its surroundings, architectural concept, preparation of project documentation, and necessary permits for the construction of the pavilion, as well as the exhibition solution, multimedia space in the pavilion, operation, and maintenance. It is anticipated that the internal exhibition of the pavilion should showcase the best that Czech science can offer to the world regarding the assigned theme "Food for the Planet, Energy for Life". Italy is particularly interested in the extraordinary discoveries of the Czech Republic in the field of nanotechnology and biochemistry applied in agriculture and water purification, which push the development of the theme into the future. The government has agreed to Czech participation in the upcoming world exhibition, with the condition for the approval of the action with a budget of 260 million crowns being the first-time involvement of the private sector in co-financing. According to previous information, total contributions from private investors and other partners may amount to around 50 million crowns. Even after the Expo ends in October 2015, the pavilion's structure should continue to be utilized. A potential investor would thus gain both the building and renown. Media reports have indicated that the pavilion at the Expo could resemble, for example, Kaplický's unrealized design for the National Library or could take the shape of the Čapí hnízdo farm of entrepreneur Andrej Babiš.
