Rosice - Rosice in the Brno region is trying to restore the swimming pool, which was closed due to unsatisfactory conditions after the 2011 season. For several years, the city dealt with the purchase of land that did not belong to it, and now it has reached the stage of announcing an architectural competition. Architects can send their proposals until September 8, after which the city will select the best one and will reconstruct the swimming pool according to it. Deputy Mayor Andrea Trojanová told ČTK that the wish is to start construction in the current electoral term, meaning by the fall of 2018.
The Rosice swimming pool is missed in the hot summer. "It would be appropriate if something was here," stated Trojanová. Rosice has approximately 6,000 inhabitants, and the nearest swimming pool is in Zbýšov; one can also swim in Říčany or in Střelice.
The city wanted to renovate the swimming pool earlier as well. However, problems arose with the land, the ownership of which was being shuffled among state institutions. "At first glance, it seemed that nothing was happening for a long time. But we kept working on it, and it finally reached the stage of the architectural competition," said Trojanová.
The new swimming pool is to have naturally purified water without chlorine. The competition conditions also include facilities for swimmers, a beach volleyball court, a pétanque court, and if spatially possible, a smaller wellness area. "We would like the area to be at least partially usable even outside of summer," noted Trojanová. It may also include smaller accommodations and a social space for organizing various celebrations or corporate events.
The cost of the new swimming pool is not yet clear. "The competition also includes an economic part. We will see how the competing teams handle that. The interest is quite significant," stated Trojanová. The municipality will likely have to secure the funds itself since the era of obtaining European grants for such projects is gone. It is therefore expected that part will be paid from the municipal budget, and part would probably be covered through a loan. "Currently, the budget is doing well," noted Trojanová.
If the reconstruction of the swimming pool is successful, it will once again be a fully-fledged part of the sports complex next to the football stadium and in proximity to the ice stadium. However, that one has already seen its best days.
