Prague – The Prague City Hall has announced a public tender for the project documentation of a new transportation terminal at Smíchov Station. The estimated value of the tender is 160 million korunas. This is stated in the public procurement bulletin. The bus terminal currently located at Na Knížecí is to be relocated to Smíchov Station, and in addition, a parking lot is to be created there. The total construction costs are estimated at about two billion korunas.
The city is coordinating the plan with the development company Sekyra Group, which plans to build a district in the area. The contract is issued for complete design and engineering activities. The selected company will provide documents necessary for the building site location decision, issuance of a zoning decision, or obtaining a building permit, for example.
The new terminal will be built on the site of the current station and will be connected to the railway station, metro, and the upcoming construction of a new district. The Administration of Railways and Transport (SŽDC) also plans to renovate the main building of Smíchov Station.
According to earlier information from the city hall, a parking garage should be built first, with a bus terminal on its roof. Subsequently, part of the area above the railway station platforms should be constructed. This will be used to increase the capacity of the bus terminal and will allow the buses currently stopping at Na Knížecí to be relocated here. The project also includes shifting the existing pedestrian bridge over Smíchov Station to allow direct access to the platform.
In the future, public transport buses are expected to continue operating at Na Knížecí, but there will not be a terminus or parking lot. The number of routes ending there should gradually reduce to about half. The city is considering building a new city hall building on part of the existing bus stop, where nearly 2,000 officials would move after the lease of Škodův palác ends in 2028.
Alongside the planned terminal, the Sekyra Group project named Smíchov City is expected to include a hotel and four buildings for the Czech Savings Bank headquarters. The rest of the project towards Na Knížecí will consist of office and residential buildings. The Smíchov City project covers a total of 216,099 square meters of land and aims to provide housing for up to 3,300 people. The northern part, which will start at Na Knížecí and is primarily intended for residential use, is scheduled to begin construction by Sekyra Group at the beginning of next year.
