On Thursday, March 13th, a festive gala evening of the 32nd edition of the student competition Olověný Dušan took place at the Faculty of Architecture of Czech Technical University. The award in the category of Architecture and Urbanism was won by Alžběta Janevská with the project Process. In the Design category, the men's range Ryor by Petr Hubatka succeeded, and a special award was also given to Eirik Jokeš for the thermometer Husička. This year's novelty was a separate category Landscape Architecture, where the award went to Barbora Husáková and her project Do-Pro-Vodí, while a special jury prize was awarded to Lenka Skácelíková's project Motolská mýtina. You can view the exhibition of the winning and nominated projects until April 3rd in the atrium of the FA ČVUT. The competition aims to offer an external perspective on studio education and bring reflection to both students and teachers. This year, the organizers – students from the Student Association of Architecture – transformed the competition in many ways. Landscape Architecture has newly gained a place in the competition as a separate category, and for the first time, there was no award for the best studio. SPA decided to try a new approach and obtain feedback from an external jury on all studios, thereby creating as comprehensive a picture as possible of studio education at the faculty. All studios were evaluated by an external jury in three categories – quality of the assignment, quality of student outputs, and quality of the exhibition. You can see how individual studios compare with others on the Olověný Dušan website. The selection of winning works and the evaluation of the studios was conducted by an independent jury consisting of: Architecture - Ján Antal, Jitka Ressová, Petr Mičola, Matěj Čunát, and Lenka Milerová, Landscape Architecture - Eva Wagnerová, Martina Bauerová, and Aleš Hnízdil, Design - Václav Mlynář, Hana Hillerová, and Ondřej Tobola. This year's edition included a program in the spirit of celebrating creativity and creativity. A slide appeared in place of the stairs, a bouncy castle, an artistic performance by Jan Fabián took place, figure drawing in the atrium, jazz and interpersonal relationships, Lego, and much more – the Faculty of Architecture was filled with laughter, joy, and creativity for a whole month. "An unintentional phenomenon (not only) at our creative school is the fact that students, due to the necessity to create for school, no longer have time, desire, and energy for their own creativity. Together with the association, we believe that if a person realizes themselves in their own work, they then have more energy and desire for school projects. Therefore, we played, created, and had fun with students all month long, and it was a blast. I believe that no one from FA will forget it for a long time." – shares his thoughts and feelings the organizer Martin Tabery. Here you can watch the video from the entire creative program (author Kamil Renčo). This year, for the second time, the radio raDuše broadcasted, where all nominees were asked interesting questions in depth. The raDuše team also placed great emphasis on musical accompaniment. Musical creatives from our school showcased their talent during live musical interludes throughout the broadcast and even afterwards, directly on the faculty’s premises. You can listen to interviews with the nominees and also musical performances here!
