Prague - The fourth edition of the competition for the most beautiful train station in the Czech Republic has ten finalists, selected by an expert jury based on public suggestions. This year, mostly rural stations will compete for the title, with Jindřichův Hradec standing against them. The organizers announced this to ČTK in a press release today.
The finalists include the stations of Červenka in the Olomouc region, Dobrovice near Mladá Boleslav, Hodice between Jihlava and Telč, Choceň near Vysoké Mýto, Kopidlno near Jičín, Osek - město near Litvínov, Roztoky near Prague, Strážnice in South Moravia, Jindřichův Hradec, and Železná Ruda - Alžbětín. The winner will be determined by public voting.
"The goal is to recognize the good work of the people who truly care about their station, to motivate others to adopt a more responsible approach, and certainly not least to help increase public interest in traveling by train," said project leader Pavel Bureš.
The competition has been organized since 2007 by the civic association Entente Florale - Harmony with partners such as Czech Railways, Jindřichův Hradec Local Railways, and the Railway Infrastructure Administration.
Previous editions of the competition for the most beautiful train station were won by Ostroměř near Hořice, Trutnov, and Zahrádky near Česká Lípa.
