Prague - The Supreme Audit Office (NKÚ) has launched a tender for the construction of a new headquarters in Prague's Holešovice. The auditors will share part of two buildings at the corner of Ortenovo náměstí with the parliamentary library and the archive of the Chamber of Deputies. According to the E15.cz website, which reported the announcement of the contract today, the value of the construction contract will exceed 570 million crowns. A part of the two new buildings at the corner of Ortenovo náměstí is reserved for the needs of the parliamentary library and the archive of the Chamber of Deputies.

The new NKÚ headquarters will have an area of 7,500 m² and will be built on land owned by the office. Upon completion, it will create a unified space with the area of the former Holešovice brewery.

"All the tender documentation for the construction should be available at the beginning of the week," spokesperson for the audit office Jaroslav Broža told the E15.cz website. The architectural office Masák&Partner, which will be responsible for the design of the buildings, was selected by the NKÚ at the beginning of last year, the website reported.

Approximately two-thirds of the budget for the construction of the building is to come from the state budget. The remaining amount will be covered by savings from the NKÚ from previous years.

Currently, the NKÚ is based in the Tokovo building in Holešovice, which belongs to the company CPI. The current lease agreement is set to expire in 2023. There has been speculation about the construction of a new NKÚ building for several years.
