Dear architects, urban planners, artists, and creators,

we would like to invite you to participate in the Urban Interventions project in Žďár nad Sázavou, which follows the already completed Urban Interventions in Bratislava, Prague, Brno, Zlín, and dozens of other primarily Slovak and Czech cities. The curator of the urban interventions is the new architect of the town of Žďár nad Sázavou, Ing. arch. Zbyněk Ryška. Through the urban interventions, you will become acquainted not only with him but also with the town, which is preparing to announce open architectural competitions - the first perhaps as early as this spring.

The town of Žďár nad Sázavou, like other cities, faces problematic locations that have remained unresolved for a long time, and over time, the residents have become accustomed to their condition. However, their modification or cultivation would facilitate and enhance life in the city. For this reason, we within the initiative Žijeme Žďárem have decided to organize Urban Interventions in Žďár nad Sázavou as well. The aim of the interventions is not to generate profit or to secure contracts in the city; rather, their goal is to awaken the activity of the town's residents in public spaces and to showcase possible changes through illustrative conceptual and architectural solutions.

In exchange for your time and proposals/comments on one or more locations highlighted by citizens or ones you have noticed yourself, we can offer you the opportunity to present your proposal as part of an exhibition, followed by a book with the ambitious title Visions ZR 2050. We will present the selected 12 proposals during the launch of this book. You can unleash your imagination and consider what socio-technological changes will impact public spaces, for example, due to the robotization of transport - the first prompts are already available on the website.

At the same time, we would like to invite you to Žďár nad Sázavou for a weekend for architects from April 15-17, which will kick off with a lecture by the author of the urban interventions concept - Slovak architect M. Vallo. This will be followed by walks guided by the city architect, and you can visit the world-unique Santini building at Zelená hora or the newly opened Museum of the New Generation... More information about the interventions, including citizen suggestions pointing to problematic places, can be found on the website www.ziveprostory.cz/zasahy-info, where we will gradually add background materials, accompanying programs, and offers. The interventions are part of the architecture festival Živé proStory, which last year included, for example, a children's competition, an architecture students’ workshop, and a PechaKucha Night on the theme of public space - you can review all outputs on the website www.ziveprostory.cz.
