Urban Interventions Kladno 2013 - Call

The successful format "City Interventions," which was introduced in 2008 by architects Matúš Vallo and Oliver Sadovský, is now moving to post-industrial Kladno!

There is probably no need to introduce City Interventions to archiweb readers after they have taken place in Prague, Brno, and proposals have just been submitted for Jablonec.

The organizers in Kladno have decided to familiarize as many members of the public as possible with the "interventions" and actively involve them. From April 10, 2013, when the introductory meeting takes place, everyone can comment on places in their surroundings that they like or dislike. Special stickers are prepared for the younger generation, which can be stuck anywhere in the city to draw attention to specific problematic areas. And of course, this can be shared on Facebook. For all others who lack the courage or desire to express themselves directly in public space, a large map in the library's vestibule will be available, where they can mark locations with classic pins.

The aim of the city interventions, not just in Kladno, is to highlight the pain points in the city and mainly to offer a remedy for them. Architects and other authors will prepare their projects during the summer of 2013, which they will donate to the city. The proposals will then be exhibited and published in a catalog during the autumn. Both the exhibition and the catalog should be as accessible as possible so that the public in Kladno and the council members can familiarize themselves with them. Everyone should be able to imagine that it is possible to improve public space and that it often does not have to cost much, it just needs a desire!

We believe that interesting ideas can be acquired in Kladno and that some of them can be brought to realization.
