Kladno - Kladno has announced an architectural competition for a new look of the center. The city aims to enhance the pedestrian zone of T. G. Masaryk, improving comfort for both pedestrians and cyclists. The deadline for submitting competition proposals is the end of March, and the city plans to start the renovations next year. This was reported by the spokesperson of the Kladno city hall, Lenka Růžková.

Preparations for the competition took more than half a year. They included public discussions with citizens, merchants, and an online survey about the future design of the pedestrian zone. The materials for the competition also include a newly developed cycling master plan and an analysis of parking in the city center. "We consider smooth and barrier-free connectivity of the pedestrian zone with Freedom Square and the bus station to be important," said the city development councilor Ondřej Rys (Choice for Kladno).
The authors of the proposals will also suggest the design of an information system to replace the numerous different types of advertisements that currently overcrowd the pedestrian zone according to the city hall. Instead, there should be more greenery, water features, and drinking fountains in the center.
On T. G. Masaryk Street, other upcoming city projects will follow, including the restoration of the arcade along Czechoslovak Army Boulevard and the reconstruction of the bus station into a modern terminal. The architectural competition will also determine the design of the new station.
Detailed information and complete competition materials have been published on the city's website. The jury will distribute a total of half a million crowns among the best-rated proposals.
