Winners and Awardees JFK#13
On the evening of February 4, 2015, the thirteenth edition of the Ještěd in a Cage competition took place at the studio of Karel Hubáček at the Faculty of Art and Architecture in Liberec. A five-member jury consisting of Števo Polakovič – gutgut, Yvette Vašourková - CCEA MOBA, Ondřej Chybík – Chybík+Kryštof Associated Architects, architecture theorist Karolína Jirkalová, and illustrator Tomáš Kučerovský. Throughout the day, they selected the best architectural projects, which were awarded at the beginning of the festive evening.
Besides the overall winner, the jury selected nine nominees and awarded one special prize. The Ještěd in a Cage statuette was awarded to the duo Adam Lacina and Jiří Lukáš for the project Podještědí. Additionally, the nominated projects included Forest Tower Vu Dinh Quang, Elemental Baths Tereza Čermáková, Path by Barbora Tauerová, Werk Adam Cigler and Petr Vacek, Housing for Seniors Prague - Slivenec Šimon Marek, House with a Gutter Eliška Kováříková, School on the Table Mountain Tobiáš Hrabec, Town Around Eliška Málková, and Another World Marie Štefanová. A special award was given to Veronika Stryalová from the environmental design studio for the project Memorial of Milada Horáková. The jury also highlighted the work of the studios Suchánek/Janoš and this year's guest studio Mjölk.
For the first time, prior to the festive announcement, there was an exhibition of works by students from the studio of Jaroslav Brabec from the Department of Environmental Design in the pre-spaces of the studio.
Ještěd in a Cage, as every semester, took place under the auspices of x-fatul, an association of alumni and friends of the school, and its smooth course was aided by sponsorship donations from BAUplus, Schüco, Cegra, and Rheinzink. Material prizes for the winners and nominees were donated by TON, Koh-i-noor, Papelote, and Playbag. The evening refreshments were made even better by the Liberec shop Kouzlo koření.
