Jablonec nad Nisou - Jablonec announced an architectural competition for the design of a transport terminal with a parking lot on Kamenná Street. Proposals can be submitted this year until December 8. The spokesman for the city hall, Markéta Hozová, informed ČTK about this today. The terminal with a parking lot for approximately 200 vehicles and barrier-free connection to the train station is intended to be built by the city between 2020 and 2022. The city estimates the cost of construction at 150 to 200 million crowns, most of which should be covered by European subsidies.
The architectural competition will be in two rounds, with the proposals from the first round being evaluated by a jury in the first half of January. "Then, those who advance to the second phase of the competition will be invited to refine their proposals in more detail," said the Deputy Mayor for City Development, Lukáš Pleticha (ČSSD). The selected architects will have about a quarter of a year for refinement. "The proposals will then be assessed by a professional transportation company, the jury, and the results of the competition are expected to be announced at the end of April next year," added Hozová.
The construction of the terminal is one of the largest projects in the city as part of the Integrated Territorial Development Plan (IPRÚ) Liberec - Jablonec nad Nisou. The project is linked to the planned extension of the tram line from Liberec to Jablonec, which is being prepared by the transport company. Currently, the tram line ends at Tyršovy sady, and the plan is to extend it to the new terminal in Jablonec via Soukenná Street and Dolní náměstí. The costs of this project are estimated at more than half a billion crowns.
