Humpolec - In the architectural competition for the modification of the city block with the Community House and the former school, Humpolec received 13 proposals. The jury will evaluate them on Monday, the mayor of the city, Petr Machek (HumpolecGO!), said to journalists today. He previously mentioned that the total costs for the modification of significant properties in the city center could amount to several hundred million Czech crowns. A more precise amount will emerge only from the project documentation.

Competition was announced by the city at the beginning of the year. They plan to distribute two million crowns in prizes. After the competition ends, the public should find the proposals on the city's website and they will also be visible in the streets of the city. They will also be exhibited directly in the Community House on June 13 and 14 during the conference Let's Make a City.

The city block whose modification the city is preparing consists of the Community House building and the former weaving school.

The Community House, which has been standing on Smetanova Street since 1899, was purchased by the city two years ago from a private owner for more than 28 million crowns. The building functioned as a socio-cultural institution until the nationalization in the mid-20th century under the management of associations. It subsequently housed a cinema. After the new cinema was opened in the city, the devastated Community House faced demolition. This was halted by the change in societal conditions after 1989 when private owners purchased the house and partially renovated it.
