Beroun - Beroun has received a building permit for the reconstruction of the outdoor swimming pool in the large housing estate and will announce a competition for a construction company. The work is expected to begin on September 1 after the end of this year’s swimming season, said Deputy Mayor Michal Mišina (for ANO) to ČTK.
"We have allocated 29 million crowns in the budget for the first phase, which includes the creation of a new pool basin, the procurement of technology, new areas around the pool, and the construction of a children's paddling pool. There should also be preparations for water slides, which will come in the second phase," Mišina stated.
In the next phase, which will cost between eight and nine million crowns, in addition to the water slides, there are plans for planting greenery and creating a playground with water features for children. The third phase will involve a complete reconstruction of the facility that houses the amenities for swimmers. "We would like to build a wellness center there, but for now, that is a future prospect. We will consider whether we will be the investors as a city or if it will be a company that will then operate it," Mišina added.
The pool was built in the 1970s and opened in 1980. In 2002, the city invested four million crowns in it as a one-time expense, and from 2003 to 2007, it spent an additional 2.7 million crowns on partial replacements of the piping and tiles. In 2015, the city hall had the sand filters at the pool replaced for one million crowns. Recently, tiles were also replaced, the walls were painted, and essential maintenance was invested in. During the season, around 10,000 people visit the facility, and according to the city hall, that number could be higher.
