The architect Robert Konieczny will speak about the conversion of the heritage-protected slaughterhouse, which transformed into the contemporary art gallery Plato in Ostrava. The lecture series will take place every Wednesday in collaboration with TIC Brno and the Faculty of Architecture at VUT.

Robert Konieczny, born in 1969 in Katowice, is a prominent Polish architect and a graduate of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. In 1996, he obtained a certificate from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and three years later he founded the architectural studio KWK Promes, where he serves as director. As a conceptualist, Konieczny places the idea and a strong concept at the center of his creative process. By disconnecting from his own preferences and habits, he explores the unknown, which often leads to innovative solutions. Although his works reflect certain design procedures, each of his projects is unique with the ambition to bring something new. His portfolio includes a wide range of works from private houses to public buildings, with each reflecting his search for new design solutions.
Admission to the lecture is free.
