„Today it is easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism.”
After 1989, capitalism declared itself the only realistic political-economic system. Young people today often do not feel the absence of alternatives to this political regime, but it is precisely they who are most paralyzed by the maladies of the current world. The inability to focus and the loss of long-term perspective are compensated for by the illusion of freedom and choice. Capitalist realism is a system in which any change seems impossible and which only allows for self-reproduction.
English philosopher Mark Fisher provides a penetrating analysis of the symptoms of our current malaise.
