The architecture of the international group exhibition
No Feeling Lasts Forever. A Collection of Solidarity in Skopje reflects content layering, aiming to support the intention of the curators to mediate for the viewer a unique collection from the
Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) in Skopje in its historical and political context. Additionally, contemporary artists were invited to work with the collection and select works from it that resonate with their own creations. The exhibition features paintings, sculptures, texts, models, sounds, and video.
The exhibition commemorates the devastating earthquake that struck Skopje in the summer of 1963. As a manifestation of international solidarity, a wave of aid arose for the reconstruction of the destroyed city. As part of the city’s recovery, the establishment of the Museum of Contemporary Art was also decided, and artists from around the world donated their works to the museum's collection. The exhibition was organized by the curatorial collective WHW for the
Kunsthalle Vienna. The curator for the Prague exhibition at the Trade Fair Palace is Rado Ištok.
Visual inspiration for the panels and furnishings comes from the brutalism in architecture, which is characteristic of Skopje. Following the devastating earthquake, several iconic buildings in this style were constructed as part of the city’s recovery. The panels feature a plastic layer with a textured finish and the shaping evokes the forms of brutalist buildings.
