The main purpose of the project was to design a house that would correspond to the character of the location and the small plot, a house that could meet all the investors' requirements and provide them with privacy and a pleasant environment for living.
The given plot on the outskirts of the built-up area of Beroun has a specific character – it significantly slopes from the access road towards the north to a strip of mature greenery, and the neighboring houses stand relatively close on the sides.
The main challenge, therefore, was to cope with the height difference, orientation, and distances from neighbors. The positioning of the house essentially stems from these conditions – the house is set on the northern side of the plot, allowing a residential terrace oriented to the south to be created in front of it, while it is set back from the road level for privacy and considering the slope of the terrain. Attached to the house in an L-shape is a smaller structure on the east with a sauna and relaxation area at the terrace level, and a large garage with a workshop and storage on the floor above it, which connects to the level of the access road. Alongside the garage, an access staircase leads under a light transparent pergola, so that residents can continue, albeit outdoors, but dry-footed, to their own entrance to the house one level below.
The main living space directly connects to the terrace thanks to a large glazed wall and conceptually expands into the garden. On the northern side is a kitchen with a long window that allows a view through the entire width of the house into the greenery on the northern side.
The western part of the house functions as a private zone. The bedrooms have windows facing toward the more distant neighbor, and the bathroom opens into the greenery to the north. On the opposite end of the house facing the closer neighbor is the entrance zone and an office with a window to the north into the greenery. When viewed from the street, only the driveway to the garage and then a long strip of greenery is visible to passersby, which thus protects the living terrace and the structure at the lower level from views from the street – the house is essentially hidden from foreign eyes…
