The family house is located in the western Slovak village of Rohožník, at the end of the village on V kútoch street. The flat plot of the windy Záhorie is protected from the north by a pine forest. The composition of the house's volumes follows the protective embankment of the forest and opens to the southeast side of the plot - into a large garden - to the maximum possible extent. It was crucial for the final massing of the three-story tower (1 basement + 2 above-ground floors) and the single-story bungalow that the investor was persuaded by the architect to leave the entrance to the house (pedestrian entrance and garage) unfenced, which brought a new quality of public space to what was otherwise an unremarkable village street.
In the three-story tower, there is a garage on the ground floor (connected to the house, to the rear party yard with a grill, and to the basement with a pool table) and on the first floor, there is a library with access to the terrace on the roof of the bungalow.
In the single-story bungalow, all living spaces (3 bedrooms and the main living area with the kitchen and dining room) are lined up linearly and oriented towards the sunny garden. There is an exit from the main living area and two bedrooms to a covered atrium with a glass roof.
The owners wished for a simple house from the architect (although each spouse had a completely different idea of
“simplicity”). The architect originally designed the house for a childless couple, but today happy parents of twins reside in it.
