The kindergarten consisted of a two-story building with 4 classrooms connected by a service link to the single-story buildings of the kitchen and boiler room.
The structure of the prefabricated MSOB skeleton fulfilled Le Corbusier's thesis of functionalism during its reconstruction and expansion. Enchanted by this realization, we tried our best to respect the essence of the existing buildings, only slightly erasing and slightly adding. And endlessly correcting proportions...
The decline in the number of newborns in the 1990s and the privatization of state enterprises caused the demise of many preschool education institutions.
The building was purchased by a private investor and began to transform into a vibrant center of social life, both community-based and for the entire Opava region. Currently, the building houses sewing workshops, a sculpture studio with a public bar, a cosmetics shop, a hairdresser, and a fitness center. Pizza is baked here, and on the second floor, there are administrative offices.
In the first phase, the two-story building was renovated, the connecting link was demolished, and the hard and grassy areas were partially addressed. In the second phase, the renovation of the kitchen and boiler room was carried out, the second floor was added, and the hard and grassy areas were completed.
Currently, plans are being prepared for the addition of a third floor with administrative offices and the owners' apartment. The fifth thesis - the rooftop terrace will also come to fruition…
