Transfer hub for buses arriving via the highway from Frýdek-Místek and a tram connection linking Hrabůvka with the city center. Over 300 connections daily. The gateway to the city, a semantic symbol of the place.
The original 45-year-old bus shelter and underpass entrances were removed. New bus shelters are dynamically inclined in the direction of arriving vehicles, as are the atypical benches. The shelters for the underpass entrances are sloped in the direction of the staircase arms. The dynamics of the shelters and benches are supported by lines of scenic lighting at dusk.
The underpass has been shortened to two exits and has been structurally and hydroisolated, with walls and ceilings covered with expanded metal mesh featuring "scars" of scenic lighting.
The shelters are located at the foot of Hrabůvka Hill. The hill was not formed from mining waste but from slag from the Vítkovice Ironworks. They patented weather-resistant steel under the commercial name Atmofix in the 1960s. This fact is referenced in the material used for the cladding of the shelters, furnishings, and underpasses.
Murals themed "Best of Ostrava" consist of a composition of inscriptions collected from Ostrava walls, which will be cleaned at their original locations and symbolically transferred, concentrated in the underpass. The designs were created and realized by students of the University of Ostrava, Faculty of Arts.
