Reconstruction of the factory owner's apartment into modern offices

The reconstruction of the 3rd floor of the classicist Art Nouveau building on Na Florenci Street aimed to preserve as much of the partially preserved original decor as possible, while also creating space for functional contemporary offices.

The classicist Art Nouveau house designed by architect Matěj Blechy has undergone several reconstructions throughout its existence. On the 3rd floor, part of the original furnishings from the apartment of industrialist Alois Breye has been preserved, which we tried to maintain as much as possible during the reconstruction.

The investor's intention was to reconstruct the spaces on the 3rd floor into fully functional offices with minimal interference in the historic decor.

The eastern part facing Na Florenci Street was left practically untouched in terms of layout. The coffered and stucco ceilings were treated, and the parquet floors were completely refurbished. The original historic buffet in the largest room was restored.

The western part underwent minor layout changes due to the investor's requests for office arrangement. The damaged carpet was removed from the floor, the surface was adequately treated, and a new carpet was laid.

By constructing a new partition, a simple meeting room was created, open to the courtyard through a bay window.

The restrooms were completely reconstructed. The original entrance directly from the staircase was closed; in its place, a sink common to both the ladies’ and gentlemen’s sections was installed.

In the main entrance area, next to the new entrance to the restrooms, a small kitchenette was created.

The requirements for furnishing with office furniture were modest. Emphasis was placed primarily on quality lighting, which in the rooms with preserved ceilings is provided by floor lamps.
