The building modifications consisted of removing vertical non-load-bearing structures and designing a completely new layout. The diagonal floor plan transformed the apartment from a 4+1 to a 4+kk with rooms having separate entrances, achieving greater functionality in the space through their placement and orientation. The apartment in a residential building reflecting the spirit of socialist realism is designed with a combined load-bearing system, consisting of reinforced concrete pillars, beams, and brick walls. The reconstruction thus focused on exposing the original load-bearing structure and coloring it in various shades. Another task was to maximize the use of all spaces according to the investor's requirements. The central motif, which recurs throughout the apartment, is a system of wooden shelves and cabinets, whose functions change depending on the type of room. The floors are wooden, and the layout corresponds to the new spatial arrangement. Interestingly, although the design and commencement of construction began more than 5 years ago, the client maintained the desire to carry out the project gradually while adhering to the original design, which deserves great admiration. Generally, what is not done right away is never done or ends up being done completely differently!
