Brewery Eggenberg

The historic Eggenberg Brewery in Český Krumlov, a part of the UNESCO World Heritage, has been transformed into the cultural and educational center PORT 1560. This project, awarded the title of Building of the Year 2024, preserves the architectural heritage of the site while giving it new meaning and function.
The Eggenberg Brewery is a showcase of the rich history of architectural development, featuring elements of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Modern styles. The meticulous reconstruction has preserved the historical character of the building, including Gothic vaults, Renaissance masonry, and wooden beam ceilings. At the same time, modern technologies have been integrated without compromising the aesthetics of the structure.
PORT 1560 has become a dynamic cultural center with exhibitions celebrating brewing traditions, spaces for workshops, and social events. A unique element of the project is the Visitor Center with a dominant suspended staircase made of steel, glass, and concrete, which connects historical charm with modern innovations. The project brings life to one of the most valuable historical sites in Český Krumlov and contributes to its cultural and economic vitality.
