The special department of the faculty kindergarten consists of one class with 8 to 10 children with mild mental disabilities. The furniture realization was part of the overall reconstruction of the department. It features a large wardrobe wall in the playroom and two smaller pieces of furniture - a block with drawers for clothes and a wall with hooks in the hallway.
The main wall includes opening cabinets, niches for the piano and large toys, steps for access to higher shelves, a block of smaller drawers, and several large drawers. Instead of simple round holes for opening, these drawers have animal pictograms of individual children carved out. Here, their blankets and bedding for afternoon naps are stored.
The smaller drawers in the hallway with the same pictograms are used for storing toys and clothes.
Plywood hooks are also marked with personal symbols of the children, this time in a three-dimensional design made of two layers of plywood.
In addition to the most common animals - rabbit, cat, monkey, horse - less common animals were intentionally chosen - dolphin, whale, kangaroo, ostrich - those that the children may not have known before. Although the usual number of children in the class is a maximum of 10, there are still four extra symbols as a reserve.
The stylization of the pictograms is based on the production technology - CNC milling with a drill diameter of 10mm; another reason for the rounded shapes is safety in use.
The material of the furniture is lacquered birch plywood with thicknesses of 9 and 15mm. The hooks and the pictograms above them are cut from plywood with a thickness of 21 mm.
