MPP Cellularium
Address: Main Point Pankrác, Prague, Czech Republic
Project:2019
Completion:2020
Area:155 m2

Interestingly, but complexly shaped space in the new MPP building, where in the floor plan it is almost impossible to find a straight wall, and the space is vertically interwoven with slanted supporting columns – such materials were received by the Formafatal studio along with the brief for the interior design of the Institute of Natural Medicine.

A standalone circular room (doctor's office) is embedded into the entrance foyer, which also serves as a waiting area. The reception with the nurse is located at the entrance, and the essential part of the entire space, with a total area of 155 m², is the so-called SPA, where besides the separate changing rooms, there are accompanying healing procedures – Finnish sauna, cryosauna, and air flow therapy.

In the design, due to the soft shaping of all walls, we emphasized simplicity while also being inventive with surfaces and cladding. Dark tones and smooth plastered surfaces, together with natural light, significantly highlight the playfully modeled space, while we kept the nurse's room and the doctor's office in gentle light shades that do not distract the visitor. The outer shell of the office is clad with vertical steel plates that gradually tilt down to a flat smooth cladding with integrated doors. The verticality of the cladding is a response to the facade of the MPP building (DAM architects).

Continuing with the principle of vertical grids in the SPA area, we lined each of the three main rooms with clear glass rods on gradient plastered rounded drywall partitions.
There is no need to describe the purpose of the room further to the clients. The colors themselves define the content: sauna as fire (red), cryosauna as ice (blue), and air flow as wind (gray).

We illuminated the small circular changing rooms with semicircular backs made of perforated backlit metal near the mirrors, creating a play of light and shadows again with a grid of vertical strips. All these principles and materials were repeated in other modified forms throughout the interior space to achieve a harmonious whole.
