The concept of the exhibition is based on dividing the space into three thematic units – the outer (public space), represented by two islands in the central area – the landscape (installation of cemetery crosses and the theme of pilgrimages), the intermediary space defining the perimeter of the room with a symbolic belfry, and the private space adjacent to one of the shorter walls, represented by a village house. The elementary design in monochromatic color allows folk exhibits to stand out, while the open central space enables visitors to overview the entire area and absorb the individual themes that, like in the landscape, intertwine and influence each other. The installation concept follows a regular rhythm of alternating vertical showcases and graphic panels with gaps through which the graphic background on the windows can be seen. In this way, the installation opens up to the landscape and the symbolism of looking into the distance – to the horizon of the landscape or the sky.
The dark blue color of the entire exhibition structure evokes mystery, symbolizes the sky, relates to Christian symbolism where blue represents the Marian cult, but it also connects to folklore, where blue is abundantly used in traditional costumes.
The atmosphere of the space is enhanced by a translucent fabric hung in front of the windows with a motif of the landscape horizon. Against this background, there is space for quotes that will complement the overall atmosphere of the exhibition. At the same time, the fabric will shield the southern sun.
