I first saw the apartment when it was still in rough construction. I was pleasantly surprised not only by its size, but especially by the fascinating view of the quarry and the transmitter on Hády. I also quite liked the fact that the entire new apartment building is integrated into the original street development. Another positive finding was the fact that the apartment has sufficient amenities. In addition to the basement storage unit on the ground floor of the building, it also includes a garage and one covered parking space. Additionally, the property is adjacent to a garden area, which stretches to the edge of the slope down to the Svitava River valley.
The apartment owners had to formulate the design very quickly because the construction of the apartment building was progressing rapidly. There was therefore relatively little time to implement client changes. The layout was adjusted - an additional toilet and sink were added, the washing machine was moved out of the bathroom, the pantry was eliminated, the kitchen location was changed, and space was found for a fireplace as well as for a home office. The clients were great and they lobbied vigorously for the changes with both the developer and the construction company.
It was relatively quick to select and match the oak mosaic floor, the beige epoxy leveling compound, the birch veneer doors, and the beige-green ceramic tiles. The delivery of the individual components was a kind of symbiosis of suppliers verified by the architect (floors, fireplace with leveling compound, doors, lights) and companies cooperating with the construction (tiles, painting and wallpapering, masonry, plumbing, and electrical work). A separate part was the implementation of atypical interior elements. It was primarily necessary to rationally organize the spaces inside the built-in wardrobes and in the kitchen cabinets, as the apartment has no pantry or dressing room. Typical interior items such as chairs or the sofa were selected not only with regard to appearance, but the owner also considered their comfort. The lady of the apartment, on the other hand, made sure to oversee the selection of apartment accessories and textiles. Both of them jointly selected a painting over the sofa in the living room after moving in, which ultimately completely dominates the main living space. The painting was created by Petr Kvíčala, who initially introduced me to the client.
