Biography
German architect Ole Scheeren led the Rotterdam and Beijing office of Office for Metropolitan Architecture, where he was responsible for all OMA projects in Asia, including the Beijing Books Building and the new Prada Epicenter in Shanghai. His responsibilities also included the construction of the CCTV headquarters and TVCC in Beijing. Since 1999, he has also led several OMA projects in the USA, including the Prada Epicenter in Los Angeles and New York and the unrealized project for the expansion of the Los Angeles County Museum. He studied architecture in Lausanne, Karlsruhe, and London. For his diploma project, developed at the renowned AA in London, he received the RIBA Silver Medal and the SOM Award in 2000. Even during his studies, he worked with many architectural firms in Germany and London. He briefly opened his own practice. In 1995, he began collaborating with Rem Koolhaas, became a partner at OMA in 2002, and left in 2010 to establish his own practice, Büro Ole Scheeren.
