The object is situated at the center of the plot, between the production area and the sample room, and it serves as a meeting place for management, employees, customers, and external workers of the company ABW. It is not surprising that the main material used is concrete, since it is an administrative building located within the concrete element manufacturing plant (Austria Beton Werk). The architectural concept is based on a triangular atrium, to which all office spaces in the building are oriented. Slanted steel columns help support the office wing, which is placed on a lightweight base. This creates an open and well-lit workspace from all sides.
A rigorous approach in the design and execution of the building included not only passive measures but also the use of advanced technologies
Floor heating with a low thermal gradient is connected to a water-to-water heat pump. Wells serve as a source of heat/cooling, and utility water is also drawn from the primary well. In addition to floor heating, the building utilizes large-scale ceiling cooling, benefiting from the activation of the heavy concrete core. Continuous air exchange in the interior is ensured by ventilation in the form of recuperation. The roof is covered with an extensive vegetation layer, mitigating adverse climatic influences.
The façade is protected by StoTherm Classic, and acoustic plaster Sto improves the interior acoustics
In the basic monochromatic material framework defined by exposed concrete walls, gray rubber flooring, and white acoustic plaster, custom-made furniture made of light plywood is inserted. Steel elements (including load-bearing elements and railings) are unified by a dark coating. An important attribute in the interior design was high-quality acoustics. "Although the original concrete ceilings turned out beautiful, we had them sprayed with white acoustic plaster StoSilent Compact,” adds architect René Baranyai. The dark façade of the administrative building is insulated with the StoTherm Classic façade insulation system, and the heat-reflecting façade color with NIR StoColor X-black technology reflects sunlight and reduces heating of the façade surface.
