The appearance of the interior significantly affects human health. Both physical and mental. Healthcare facilities should not evoke foreign and unwelcoming spaces in which patients feel sicker and lost; rather, they should be characterized by beautiful design, functionality, and acoustic comfort. It is also important to use materials that are absolutely health-safe.

AESTHETICS AND COMFORT

The building materials used in healthcare facilities must meet strict requirements for health safety and durability. Their cleaning and disinfection must be easy, while maintaining their acoustic and aesthetic properties.
ROCKFON ceiling systems are designed to meet the high demands placed on products intended for healthcare facilities, in terms of acoustics, hygiene, and safety. They improve acoustic conditions in rooms and reduce health-harmful noise, which, as is widely known, negatively affects the entire organism. Noise causes sleep disturbances, changes in heart rhythm, blood pressure, and respiratory rate. In practice, this means maintaining greater quietness in rooms where patients and healthcare personnel can work and rest in peace, thus facilitating recovery.

HYGIENE AND SAFETY

It is estimated that up to 10% of patients are infected during hospitalization. This unwelcoming statistic pertains to hospitals worldwide. It has been proven that this applies not only to surgical departments but also to rehabilitation units. One of the reasons is poor sanitary and hygiene conditions in healthcare facilities.

ROCKFON products meet strict hygiene requirements and thus reduce the risks of hospital-acquired infections even in high-risk areas. Their surfaces are characterized by higher durability and resistance to aggressive detergents and disinfectants, making them suitable for areas that require frequent cleaning.

The ceilings are made of 100% inorganic material, which protects against the spread of harmful microorganisms, such as bacteria and mold. Products from the MediCare range have of course been tested for resistance to microorganisms (resistance to MRSA, Candida Albicans, Aspergillus Niger).

SOUTHMEAD HOSPITAL

THE NEW SOUTHMEAD HOSPITAL is one of the most environmentally friendly buildings of its kind in the UK. Smart material solutions and innovative processes contributed to the hospital receiving a "top-rated" score in the BREEAM system. The architects intended to connect the aesthetics and sustainability of the building, to avoid the square appearance typical of suspended ceilings, while also wanting to create high-quality ceilings that reflect light and reduce demands for artificial lighting.
The hospital was equipped with ROCKFON MediCare ceiling panels with hidden edges, creating a seamless appearance and achieving 86% light reflectance. The MediCare range also meets the requirements for easy maintenance and hygiene maintenance in healthcare facilities. This range is characterized by low emissions of solid particles, and the ROCKFON MediCare Plus system has been classified into Class 4 according to the ISO standard for clean rooms, while the ROCKFON MediCare Standard system is in Class 5.
