Although the idea of raw concrete in the interiors of apartments and family homes was considered pure extravagance just a few years ago, this type of surface has now warmed to the interest of interior designers and their clients. It's no longer just an unsightly gray mass on ceilings or walls—one can choose from various colors and application options (on floors, walls, stairs, kitchen counters, or other places). The term "visible concrete" can actually conceal various materials, whose use is becoming increasingly widespread.

Flooring and decorative coatings

Without a doubt, the most popular imitation of concrete is coatings. The design coating Microtopping from the Italian manufacturer Ideal Work has all the advantages of classic cement coatings (high durability, long lifespan, low maintenance), but additionally, it is slightly elastic due to the polymer additives. It can be applied not only on floors and walls but also on stairs, furniture, and other smooth surfaces. It is therefore a highly moldable design material, and the resulting surface is unique and unrepeatable due to the manual application. The coating is applied in a thickness of only 3–4 millimeters, and the customer can choose from almost any color, various surface types (smooth, rough), and final finishes (matte, glossy).

An excellent use in modern interiors is also the decorative coating Architop with a very authentic concrete look. It is a machine-polished floor available in 29 color shades and has a strength that exceeds classic concrete by twice, i.e., 38 N/mm2. Architop is an ideal solution for renovating existing floors, from tiles to anhydrite to old concrete surfaces. It can be installed indoors and outdoors, is waterproof, and highly wear-resistant.

Coatings in the bathroom and kitchen

High-quality cement coatings can also be installed in places exposed to various demanding conditions—such as bathrooms, shower stalls, around bathtubs and sinks, kitchen counters, or bar tops… They are not only waterproof but also withstand outdoor environments excellently, which is why they are often used in places like terraces, gardens, and around pools. The surface of the coating can be smooth or rough (anti-slip), depending on your needs and tastes. All of these coatings are also suitable for installation with underfloor heating.

Concrete floors

If you want genuine concrete under your feet, a designer concrete floor is a great choice. The Italian smoothed floor Nuvolato stands as an absolute leader in its field with its 24 color variants and traditionally high strength. The industrial look of this floor surprisingly fits well not only into modern minimalist interiors but also into classic or rustic styles. Additionally, due to its high durability and long lifespan, it performs excellently in practically any space, from residential to commercial to heavy industrial operations, including outdoors.
