Lumion is now more accessible, and you can purchase permanent licenses only until the end of this year

Lumion has changed prices, pricing policy, and transitioned to a subscription model after more than 12 years. The reason is the upcoming Lumion 2023 version, which is expected to bring a huge technological leap as well as improvements in user interface. It should be such a big deal that we could compare it to the very first appearance of Lumion.

The time when you can still purchase perpetual (lifetime) licenses ends on December 31, 2022. Currently, you can get the program in the form of a subscription for 1 year from 15,900 CZK excluding VAT for the Standard version. This version includes the most important features of the program and more than 2,000 selected optimized 3D models, over a thousand customizable textures, and generally contains about 80% of the program’s features. So it's not bad at all, and the initial large cost is eliminated, which is great especially for beginning architects. The price of the Pro version is 31,825 CZK excluding VAT for 1 year. Other than the prices, nothing changes, and the program is still available in a floating version (on multiple PCs). The transition to a subscription is calculated and set up similarly to what is done with programs like SketchUp, where the basic price of a perpetual license for acquiring and maintaining the program over 4 years has been distributed across the individual years. This is generally a common practice. So if you were planning to use Lumion for 4 years, the price is essentially the same. Subscriptions are sold for 1 year and 3 years with advance payment. The three-year subscription is discounted, and if you compare the price with a perpetual license and its maintenance, the subscription price is a little more expensive, until about six years.

Users of the current versions of Lumion 1-12 have the option to switch to a subscription even more advantageously, and essentially pre-subscribe to upgrades for the next 3 years at the price they have had for upgrades until now. Of course, the perpetual license will remain functional, but it will be "paused" during the subscription usage.
