The construction in a narrow historical space led to the concept of “house on house”. Key criteria for the building's concept were the view of Venusgarten, the Danube, and maximum utilization of sunlight. The building is harmoniously integrated into the existing image of the village. The small village of Willendorf
is famous for the Willendorf Venus, the most significant find from the Upper Paleolithic period in Austria – hence the name Venusgarten (Venus's garden).

The owner decided to create a sustainable, modern living space in the style of a loft by adding onto the old farmhouse of his mother. As part of the renovation, a separate barrier-free apartment was built on the existing lower floor, allowing the builder's mother to live in dignity appropriate to her age.

The modern house has revitalized the existing village structure, and the demonstration of contemporary living has attracted more young people to the small village. Despite the densely built-up location of the building, important goals for the project team and the builder included orientation towards natural light and the creation of appropriate privacy, along with a connection to the surrounding nature. To meet these conditions, the northern gable wall was glazed – offering a view of the apricot orchard and the Danube valley. A horizontal strip of glazing on the eastern side and strategically placed VELUX roof windows illuminate the entire depth of the room. The perfect interplay of vertical glazing for views and upper lighting for light intensity, combined with the warm surface of the white fir cladding, leads to fascinating light shades and perfect illumination.
