LD Seating: Quality Seating from Boskovice

You can find chairs and armchairs from Boskovice in a number of Czech and international companies, in coworking centers, schools, healthcare facilities, hotels, and private residences. In short, everywhere there is an emphasis on comfortable, ergonomic, and at the same time, designally interesting seating.

The family company LD Seating, founded by Jitka Hurábová, has been writing its history for 30 years. Once a small chair manufacturer, over the years it has grown into one of the leading Czech and European seating suppliers. LD Seating produces around 400 chairs daily, with over 60% of this production going abroad. And even though the company now has more than 150 employees, it still retains its family spirit.

Quality First

At LD Seating, they pride themselves on the precise craftsmanship of all their products. Quality is always the top priority. The company has its own paint shop, metal production, and also a polyurethane foaming line in Boskovice.

The heart of the entire company is the sewing and upholstering workshop. "When sewing and upholstering furniture, a thousand microscopic movements must be made to ensure everything fits perfectly. That is why we cannot do without the careful manual work of our seamstresses and upholsterers. The seamstresses must sew the covers to the exact millimeter so that they fit the prepared frames. Upholstering the frames is done manually and is physically very demanding. We always place great emphasis on detail; everything must fit perfectly. Only then do the design pieces shine in all their glory," says Jakub Huráb, the company's managing director.

Sustainable Production Approach

Sustainable development and environmentally friendly production are one of the main principles of the company. At LD Seating, they advocate the motto that the basis of sustainability lies in quality products that serve customers for many years without needing to be changed every few years. This helps save material and energy during production.

LD Seating has also come up with a way to handle a large amount of fabric scraps that are produced when sewing chair covers. These are high-quality and beautiful fabrics that would be a shame to throw away, so LD Seating has started making bags, cases, and even laptop covers from them, moving towards a zero waste production concept.

LD Seating is a holder of the EMAS environmental certificate, which is based on precise evidence and monitoring of all company waste, energy, and resources. The company is also preparing to obtain FSC certification for the Trivi chair series. This certification confirms the origin of the wood used in production.

Collaboration with Top Designers

LD Seating collaborates with a number of Czech and international designers. Among them is Martin Foret, who is behind the design of the Trivi chair, which won the international Red Dot Design Award 2022 and the BigSEE Wood Design Award 2022.


In collaboration with foreign designers, LD Seating is preparing several exciting news for next year. Some of these were showcased to visitors at the international trade fair Orgatec in Cologne during the last week of October. The company presented the Arcus chair, which catches the eye with its unusual design featuring elements of arches and ellipses. The design of this chair was created by German designer Martin Ballendat and it will be available from next summer.


Other new products include the modular seating system Nido designed by the Italian studio Orlandini Design, which will appear in the portfolio at the turn of the year, as well as the FollowMe chair by Swiss designer Andreas Krob. He focused on developing a new type of backrest that flexibly adapts to the back and naturally keeps the spine in a healthy position. Work on this chair took nearly four years, with only four weeks spent on software calculations to ensure the backrest's shape was designed correctly and without errors. The FollowMe chair will be included in LD Seating's product portfolio in the spring.
