Under the roofs, there used to be no housing, but currently, people both live and work there. During the renovation of historically valuable buildings, there are often demands for lighting and ventilation in the attic while maintaining the original appearance of the roof.

Family manufacturing company
The Formánek family business specializes in the production of modern and historical skylights. It has long been dedicated to solutions that utilize contemporary technologies while preserving the external appearance of historic buildings. The interior of the attic is sufficiently illuminated, ensuring that people feel completely natural within the given possibilities.

Authentic materials and sensitive appearance
The production focuses on authentic and ecological materials. The primary construction material is typically locally sourced pine wood, always from the territory of the Czech Republic. Surface finishes with pure oils without solvents have already been tested on skylights and have their advocates. Two types of windows are most commonly used for heritage-protected houses:

Historical skylight KLASIK brings nearly twice as much light into the attic compared to a standard construction skylight. The glass area of this skylight is 1.8 times larger than that of a standard recommended skylight size of approximately 60 × 60 cm. The Solara KLASIK type was created in response to the appearance of a previously typical roof hatch; its metal detailing is equally ornate, and yet its thermal insulation and utility properties are entirely contemporary. You can find more about the historical skylight Solara KLASIK HERE.

Studio skylight HISTORIK allows large-area illumination of the attic while preserving a historical external appearance. The glazing is divided into small window panes, the opening sections are tilting and positioned further apart, and it is possible to recess the glazing into the plane of the roofing. More about the historical studio glazing Solara HISTORIK can be found HERE.

Reference buildings:
Historical smaller skylights Solara KLASIK and large studio skylight glazing Solara HISTORIK have been used at the Pinkas Palace in Prague on Kampa. The building is located between Charles Bridge, the Vltava River, and Čertovka.

The Solara KLASIK skylights were used on the buildings of the former Jesuit college in Kutná Hora, where the Central Bohemian Gallery GASK operates.

Atypical Solara KLASIK windows with completely concealed electric motors, which are not visible from the outside or inside, were used in a historical-style new building in Podkozí. The windows are clad in special Danish pre-patinated copper and installed in a meticulously crafted slate roof.
