There has been more than enough written about the possibilities and technical characteristics of electric vehicles. Of course, there are also disadvantages related to charging itself or the currently insufficient number of charging stations. But progress cannot be stopped, and electric vehicles are gradually becoming part of our lives, which is why developers and construction companies, as well as strong private companies, have started to factor them into their considerations. Today, it would be difficult to find a newly developed construction project that does not plan for the infrastructure needed for charging electric vehicles. Recently, Renocar, a dealer of BMW cars, has also decided to equip its selected branches with standalone charging stations.
A total of 13 witty.park charging stations for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids have been supplied by Hager Electro to the Brno and Prague branches of Renocar. The chargers, with a power output of 2 x 22 kW AC, will allow for comfortably charging serviced vehicles, rental cars, demo vehicles, and also cars belonging to customers from the general public. The installation also included the delivery of new outdoor distribution boards from Hager for powering and controlling the charging stations.
“The growing market for electric vehicles is actually no surprise. The societal demand combined with the pressure to reduce car emissions is one of the driving forces behind this industry. Electric vehicles are becoming part of our lives, and it is certainly good to be prepared for this reality,” reflects Thomas Grund, managing director of Hager in the Czech Republic. “And because Hager is one of the pioneers in electrical engineering and always strives to bring innovative solutions and be a driving force in the development of smart technologies, we already have sophisticated solutions for smart charging of electric vehicles. Now, customers of Renocar will have the opportunity to try our chargers,” adds Thomas Grund.
“By installing these charging stations, Renocar confirms its effort to be a leader in introducing technological innovations and continues the widely presented strategy of BMW's electromobility,” explains the reason for acquiring the charging stations, the sales director of Renocar, Mr. Milan Pulda. “I would like to thank Hager for its perfect cooperation in the implementation of this electric vehicle infrastructure, which provided the technology, as well as M2C and NTL Forensics for the realization and installation,” concludes Milan Pulda.
The new Hager witty charging stations enable powerful charging in single-phase or three-phase configurations, with currents of up to 32 A. They are available as wall-mounted modules or standalone units. For connecting standard vehicles, there are four different high-tech charging cables available. The witty charging stations are ideal for use in family homes, as well as in companies, shopping centers, or other public places. Protection against "unauthorized charging" at freely accessible stations is provided by the witty chargers thanks to an integrated RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) function. If necessary, an authorized person can unlock the charging station and prepare it for charging an electric vehicle. This is done by identifying the authorized person through the presentation of an RFID card.
