Schüco International KG will receive the prestigious international award for exceptional design, the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 - Honourable Mention, at the end of June in Essen, Germany. The jury awards the Honourable Mention for a meticulously thought-out solution and exceptionally well-executed design work. This year, the award goes to the three-dimensional facade Schüco Parametric System in Bielefeld, the headquarters of Schüco.
In the competition of 4,928 entries from 56 countries worldwide, the Schüco parametric facade system convinced the expert jury with its concept of "uniqueness in series." For the first time, it is possible to design a geometrically variable 3D facade as a system solution that is unique in its design, yet conceived in series based on the principle of economical production.
Schüco Parametric System offers immense freedom in designing a 3D facade. The software allows for arbitrary configuration of opaque or completely transparent layers, thereby manipulating natural light and solar energy. A crucial prerequisite for the system solution is the continuous digitalization of the process chain in all phases of design, planning, and production. The proven modular system of Schüco here creates a foundation for individualized facade modeling and their economical, precision-quality, and cost-effective production.
The best design award has been given since 1955, so this year "Red Dot" celebrates its 60th anniversary. The festive awards ceremony for 2015, decided by 38 internationally active experts in the field of design, will take place on June 29 at the Aalto Theatre in Essen. Subsequently, the winning products will be exhibited for at least one year at the Red Dot Design Museum, also in Essen. The best designs will also fill the Red Dot Design Yearbook and, thirdly, will be included in the online presentation in the global directory Red Dot 21 at www.red-dot-21.com.
