Sometimes, compromise can be a win for both the architect and the investors. This was the case with the residential building featuring the Palouček guesthouse. The concept of the building's interiors and exteriors required solutions for windows and doors in aluminum design. However, this was not ideal for the investors, as aluminum windows would not meet thermal insulation requirements or would be prohibitively expensive. An elegant solution was thus provided by the Inoutic Prestige PVC windows from Deceuninck with a metallic Titanium Plus surface. In addition to their attractive appearance, these windows also provide excellent insulation against the cold and noise.

The modern building, which harmoniously combines a guesthouse and an apartment building, features the guesthouse occupying its first and second floors. Each guesthouse floor contains six studios and apartments. On the third floor, there are two apartments, three on the fourth, and the entire fifth floor is dedicated to a single luxury apartment with a magnificent view from the terrace that surrounds it on all sides.

The harmonious building attracts attention
At first glance, the building captivates with its facade, which features a striking warm reddish-brown shade. A notable element is the terrace surrounding the last fifth floor and the prominent red railings on the French windows, made of glass with a film. This material also reappears inside the living spaces. The individual railings have a sloped shape near the staircase windows to maintain a safe height along the stairs.

The project's authors are architect Ing. František Novotný and architect Ing. Jaroslav Suchan from the Projektové ateliéry Dobrovského. The ground floor interior was created by prof. akad. arch. Jan Fišer, and the interiors of the floors were designed by architect Ing. Tomáš Volák from the company BRICK, with the interior realization executed by spol. s r.o.

Beautiful yet practical windows
When deciding on the type and material of the windows, the choice fell on PVC window profiles Inoutic Prestige from Deceuninck with a Titanium Plus surface finish. "Initially, aluminum profile windows were selected," describes engineer Volák. "Since these windows did not meet the thermal transmittance standard, we chose PVC windows from Deceuninck with a metallic surface together with the owner. These windows combine the good properties of plastic with the elegant look of aluminum. From the offering of seven metallic shades, we chose the Aluminium white shade. Technically, we collaborated with the final product supplier, the company JIS, which developed the technical documentation according to the architectural plan. In certain parts of the house, specifically on the ground floor, the window dimensions are at the very limit of the possibilities of PVC profiles, and thus technical solutions were very important."

According to Petr Vojtěchovský from JIS, the popularity of these windows continues to rise. "Our company produces only about 40% of its output in white. Most of the orders consist of products in various color finishes and wood imitations. The special finish Titanium Plus, which mimics metal surfaces, is currently becoming increasingly popular," he noted. "Especially the version mimicking aluminum has been well received by many architects who would previously choose aluminum systems. The main advantage of this finish is its attractive design, reminiscent of metal surfaces, while providing the benefits of a plastic system, namely exceptional thermal insulation and significantly lower costs compared to aluminum systems, with which it is most often compared. The Titanium Plus finish is usually chosen by investors for new family houses, but also for larger structures. In renovations, wood surface imitations still dominate."

The Prestige PVC windows with a Titanium Plus surface finish are installed as easily as other PVC windows. "The processing technology for these profile systems is completely identical to other PVC systems and guarantees high precision and quality of processing," praises this material Petr Vojtěchovský. "They can thus be fully compared to aluminum constructions and wooden windows usually surpass them in terms of quality of processing."
