R. Švácha, M. Strakoš: The Story of the Prefabricated Panel Building in the Olomouc Region
On Wednesday May 13, 2015 at 6:00 PM, two lectures by leading architecture historians Rostislav Švácha and Martin Strakoš will take place at the Music Theatre in Olomouc.
The first will examine how contemporary press, including the Olomouc party newspaper Stráž lidu, reported on panel housing estates. The second will focus on the tense relationship between panel buildings and historical city centers – what concepts like sanitation and modernization entailed.
Admission is free. The lecture is part of the accompanying program for the outdoor exhibition The Story of the Panel Block in the Olomouc Region (April 28 – July 10, 2015 at National Heroes Square), organized by the Arts and Crafts Museum in Prague.
