Rostislav Švácha: Regionalism in Contemporary Czech Architecture
April 19 at 7:00 PM in the premises of the Fiducia Club
Regionalism in modern architecture has become a response to globalization trends over the past century and is characteristic of countries with a high architectural culture. The lecture will focus on defining the concept of regionalism in architecture and seeking its forms in both the European and our environment. In the Czech architecture of the 20th century, unique examples will be highlighted, in contrast to the situation after 1989, when regionalism also becomes an important topic for us. The author will present regionalist tendencies in the works of contemporary leading architects: Josef Pleskot, Ladislav Lábus, Jan Línek, Petr Pelčák and Petr Hrůša, Ladislav Kuba and Tomáš Pilař, Svatopluk Sládeček and others.
