Michael Braungart: Cradle to cradle criteria for the built environment
How buildings can support materials re-pletion instead of de-pletion
FA CTU, Thákurova 7, Prague 6-Dejvice, lecture hall D1122 Monday, November 8, 2010, at 6:00 PM
The lecture is part of the lecture series Ecology vs. Architecture, organized by the Faculty of Architecture CTU.
Michael Braungart is a German chemist, a professor at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and at the University of Luneburg in Germany. He is engaged in product engineering and, in addition to several other companies, he is a co-founder of McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry based in Virginia, USA, alongside William McDonough. He is also a co-founder of the Hamburger Umwelt Institut.
William McDonough and Michael Braungart are not only close collaborators in the field of new technologies and revolutionary approaches to design, but also the authors of the book Cradle to Cradle, which is a manifesto of their views on sustainable development of humanity, its technologies, production, and construction, a manifesto calling for the transformation of industry through ecologically intelligent design. The Prague lecture will be dedicated to the book Cradle to Cradle and its philosophy.
