Günter Löhnert: Sustainable Building Design:

Experiences, Results and Best Practice Examples on German Building Research and Certification (EnOB / DGNB)

FA ČVUT, Thákurova 7, Praha 6 - Dejvice, lecture hall D1122
Monday, November 22, 2010, at 6:00 PM.

The lecture is part of the lecture series Ecology vs. Architecture, organized by the Faculty of Architecture of the CTU.

Günter Löhnert is one of the German pioneers of rational use of solar energy, who founded the sol°id°ar Planungswerkstatt Berlin back in the 1980s. This community of architects, energy engineers, and other professionals has been working for more than two decades on the development of concepts and strategies that would facilitate the broad use of alternative energies. Their thorough work is underpinned by a fundamental attitude towards environmental quality of life. In the 1980s, a number of initiatives emerged in Germany from architects who took the path of alternative designs or the path of disseminating knowledge within the architectural community. Günter Löhnert was one of those who chose the latter path exceptionally consistently. His interest does not only encompass individual aspects of ecological building but, above all, their interrelationship. He represented Germany, for example, while working on I.E.A. tasks exploring the complex relationship between the construction process and the resulting quality. He is an outstanding analyst whose analyses have significantly contributed to progress in the "integrated design" (Integrated Design Process). He has lectured on this topic at many European and American universities as well as at a large number of symposiums.
