Contesting Space warmly invites you to another lecture in the series about cities and the "long" 19th century, this time presented by prof. PhDr. Jindřich Vybíral, CSc. titled Urban Concepts of Early Modernity.

The lecture will take place at the Faculty of Architecture VUT in Brno this Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at 5:00 PM in room A310 (auditorium).

Our current understanding of "what a city is" stems from the industrialization, demographic, political, and social changes of the 19th century. The ferment and chaos of urbanization gave rise to modern disciplines such as urban planning and sociology. What are the roots of modern urban studies? When did the term urbanización originate and what did it originally mean? How has contemporary thinking about the city evolved?
Contesting Space cordially invites you to further reflections through lectures by experts on 19th-century issues. Every other Wednesday at 5 PM at the Faculty of Architecture VUT in Brno.

Organized by Jan Kristek and Nina Ličková on behalf of Contesting Space. Guaranteed by Doc. Karel Havlíš.
