We would like to invite you on behalf of 4AM to a public discussion - Energy-efficient Houses: Trend or Necessity? - which will take place as a accompanying event of the project Great Atlas of the World: an exhibition about the journey into the future. The discussion will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 6 PM at 4AM / Gallery of Architecture, Starobrněnská 18.

Is the improvement of the energy performance of buildings in conflict with the requirements for preserving architectural values? Are the calculations during the preparation of insulation projects realistic? Is anyone checking the achieved savings retrospectively? How are technical standards for energy-efficient construction created? Are the standards a reflection of the real needs of people or just the result of lobbying by various interest groups (e.g. manufacturers of insulation materials, etc.)? Do energy-efficient buildings really have a smaller ecological footprint than traditional houses?

These and other questions will be discussed by:

Josef Chybík, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture VUT Brno,
Adam Halíř, architect, Projektil Architekti
Jan Hollan, physicist, astronomer, CzechGlobe,
Vojtěch Kotecký, Program Director of Hnutí DUHA.

The discussion is organized by: Hnutí DUHA and 4AM/Forum for Architecture and Media.
