During the spring lecture and discussion series "Architecture as a Public Matter," the public in Plzeň had the opportunity to meet selected city architects, learn about the activities of architectural offices and studios, and discover the principles on which architectural competitions operate. The cycle prepared by the association Pěstuj prostor will culminate in a final event that will take place on June 9 from 6 p.m. in one of the so-called Loos interiors – in the Kraus apartment on Bendova Street. A trio of architects with experience in the highest echelons of municipal politics will be coming to Plzeň.

date:
June 9, 2022
time: 6:00 p.m.
location: Kraus apartment, Bendova 10, Plzeň

“We will ask our guests about what led them to political engagement and what events influenced their journey. How did they perceive or perceive themselves in their roles? And what do they believe an architect in charge of a city's administration can bring? Can an architect in the role of mayor achieve goals that they could not as a 'simple' architect? And what have they carried from their political experience into their profession?” says the series' dramaturg Petr Klíma from the organizing association.
The invitation to talk about their experiences and plans has been accepted by former Prague mayor and current chairman of the Czech Chamber of Architects Jan Kasl, former director of the Institute of Planning and Development of the City of Prague and current deputy mayor Petr Hlaváček, and former city architect in Mnichovo Hradiště and deputy mayor of Jablonec nad Nisou Jakub Chuchlík.
Admission to the event is 50 CZK. Tickets will be available on-site and in the advance sale.
The lecture and discussion cycle is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the City of Plzeň, and the Foundation of Czech Architecture.
