In December 2011, you once again have the opportunity to attend a series of discussion evenings dedicated to the topics of architecture, urbanism, and this time also heritage conservation. The group Zapálení 02, in collaboration with the organization Plzeň 2015 o.p.s. and the House of Music, has invited a representative from the Club for Old Prague, a civic association that has been very actively engaged in the protection of monuments in Prague for more than a hundred years, as the main guest of the evening. The theme of the evening will include experiences with civic activism in the field of heritage conservation using examples of well-known cases from Plzeň and Prague in recent times, as well as the often tense relationship between the profession of heritage conservator and architect. This is of course related to general questions associated with finding and defending the common interest and the challenge of constructing new within the old – is a house more of a living organism or a historically valuable backdrop?

The debates will take place in the café of the House of Music every first Thursday of the month at 7 PM, with the next date being on December 1, 2011.
