Znojmo - The Znojmo Town Hall will hold a discussion with the public about the future appearance of the Hostan brewery complex, which was purchased in 2010. Interested parties can find a study on possible usage options online. A public discussion on the future of this cultural monument will take place on March 15. The mayor, Vlastimil Gabrhel, informed about this at a press conference today.

"It is important that the space is used with regard to its historical value and for the benefit of the city and its citizens," Gabrhel stated. The town hall purchased the brewery from Heineken for 26 million korunas. The city retained some influence over its future use after the brewery ceased operations. A study assessing the individual buildings in the brewery complex and proposing their future use, reconstruction, or demolition is now available for review on the city's website. People can send their comments on the study to the town hall via phone, letter, or email.
There are several options for use. "The city does not rule out that a smaller hotel or even a small brewery could be established in the complex. However, we need the exclusive consent of Heineken, which sold the brewery to the city with certain conditions," said city spokesperson Renata Bártová.
According to her, the concept of the spatial study developed by architect Jaroslav Poláček also considers uses for exhibition spaces, sports, and entertainment. "For example, there could be a brewing museum on the site," Bártová added.
Two of the three access roads to the castle and rotunda, which are significant monuments in Znojmo, also lead through the brewery complex. Since June 2011, Hradní Street has been reopened, which is the only access for vehicles.
The former Hostan brewery complex is located in close proximity to the rotunda of St. Catherine and the castle, which it was part of until the 18th century. Beer has been brewed on the site since 1720. Heineken ceased production in 2009 and permanently moved it to Brno.
