Prague - The Blind Street Pod Bruskou in Prague 1 has become a pedestrian zone. All modifications were funded by the Hoffmeister hotel, which has its buildings on this short street. The newly lined pedestrian zone with flower pots was ceremoniously opened today.
The company repaved the street, restored and activated a small fountain in its upper section, and planted greenery above it. The long non-functioning historical lamp was also repaired.
"This is a commendable action, almost unique in the area of the city district, as some entrepreneurs finally realize their responsibility for their surroundings," said the Deputy Mayor of Prague 1, Karel Koželuh (SNK ED). Private companies save public funds this way, he added.
During the restoration of the fountain, the original shaft through which water flowed was discovered. The fountain itself was probably created at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It likely ceased to function in the 1960s.
