Rudoltice (Orlickoústecko) - The planned large amusement park with a dolphinarium on the castle hill near Rudoltice in the Orlickoústecko region will not be built. Investors who wanted to invest their money into the project are looking for other locations for the plan. ČTK was told by architect Přemysl Kokeš, who was preparing the project with other partners. In Rudoltice, they only want to complete a "small variant" of the amusement area utilizing the only preserved tower from the original castle, which they own.
"The educational and entertainment park Koruna země in Rudoltice has definitively fallen through; there is no one who wants to push this in this location. We are negotiating for a location in Prague or Ostrava," Kokeš stated.
With his business partner Jiří Vávra, he owns the remains of the original New Castle. The dolphinarium with seating for 1,000 spectators and a mini-zoo with ponies, goats, llamas, and other animals were originally planned for the hill. Children were supposed to have a water play area for splashing around, and the extensive cellars of the former castle were to be used for a large aquarium with a glass wall containing the smallest beluga whales. The facility was to include a tourist railway, and a parking lot would be created for motorists. According to the creators, the attraction would also attract visitors from Austria and Poland. It was estimated that it would be visited daily by up to 2,000 people, totaling up to half a million people a year, which would provide about 40 jobs and opportunities for local businesses.
However, some residents were concerned that the crowds of tourists and the associated traffic would disrupt the previously peaceful village. The creators of the plan tried to obtain the municipality's approval as early as January, but the council demanded a study on its impact on life in the village, and the investors later redirected the project elsewhere.
Kokeš wants to at least complete the repairs of the castle tower. "There should be a restaurant, a lounge for weddings, a viewing terrace, and two rooms available. Additionally, we are planning a small zoo for children, possibly even golf in the future," Kokeš stated. He anticipates that his plans in a reduced form will not provoke public opposition.
